Empower Yourself and Make Your Health A Priority!

Women’s Health Month is recognized in May, and Pace wants you to be empowered to make your health a priority. We desire that every individual lives a healthy and happy life.

Dr. Michelle Pitcher, Nurse Practitioner stated, “during National Women's Health Week (NWHW), we encourage you to reflect on your individual health needs and take steps to improve your overall health. Now is the best time to take action to achieve the best health possible.” Pitcher continued, “Health Connection is offering NO COST preventative (wellness) examinations in May. We will review your personal history and family medical history, perform a physical examination including some screening testing, and discuss your health goals.”

In 1849, Elizabeth Blackwell became America’s first female doctor. Sanitary pads were introduced by Johnson & Johnson in 1897. The women’s healthcare movement occurred in the 1960’s and 1970’s with the goal to make healthcare accessible to all.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are steps one can take to improve their physical and mental health.

 ·      Schedule and attend regular check-ups, including a yearly wellness examination. Speak with your provider regarding any concerns you have.

·      Get active and add physical activity to your life.

·      Eat a healthy balanced diet for healthy eating for a healthy weight.

·      Prioritize your mental health and learn how to cope with stress.

·      Connect with others.

·      Get enough sleep. Adults need 6-8 consecutive hours of sleep per night.

·      Practice healthy behaviors for you. Make daily decisions to improve your overall health.

Plan for your examination in 2023 by contacting Health Connection. There may be no co-pay, deductible, or out-of-pocket cost after the month of May.
